How can Speech Works Help?
What my service provides for children and parents/carers:
- My sessions take place either at your home or your child’s nursery, school or college for your convenience and your child’s comfort.
- Free initial telephone conversation where we can discuss your child, your concerns and the service you feel you require.
- Assessment, advice and planning of next steps.
- 1:1 therapy sessions delivered in an environment which is familiar to your child.
- Free therapy resources for use during and between sessions where appropriate.
- Detailed reports for Education and Health Care Plans, Annual Reviews , transition reviews and SENDIST proceedings.
- A service which actively promotes cohesive working with both yourselves and colleagues working for allied Health and Education services.
Your initial assessment may include:
- Detailed discussion with parents/carers relating to your child’s development to date and your concerns.
- Informal assessment of your child’s speech, language and communication skills via play, when appropriate.
- Use of formal assessments when appropriate.
- Provision of written feedback from the session when necessary.
- Time for discussion regarding assessment findings, and recommended next steps.
